I saw a pumpkin on a stoop Friday. Fall’s quite special this year. At least for me.
There’s a magnificent copper beech around the corner, and sometimes I go over and stand on the sidewalk and just look up and up. I never see all the way to the top, and before long my neck begins to hurt and my head gets dizzy. Older age, perhaps.
Still, they haven’t come to ship me off yet. I continue to pal around with Portland trees. And dance through, and with, this autumn.
